“ChaCha” Mobile Phone Name Offensive in Spain

When HTC released their new “ChaCha” and “Salsa” mobile phones in Spain, they didn’t intend to offend anyone. The new phone is optimized for Facebook and includes a handy Qwerty keyboard for typing text messages.

However, the Spanish release of the “ChaCha” phone will now have to be renamed “ChaChaCha” after HTC realized that the previous name is a common Spanish slang for a woman’s private parts!

HTC also received heat about the phone’s name from online search engine ChaCha Search Inc, who sued them for infringing on their trademark name. The case is yet to be settled, but it seems like whoever named this phone should have done their homework first!
