Chinese Mountains Inspired 3-D Fantasy

A mountain called ‘The Southern Sky Column’ in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province has been renamed ‘Avatar Hallelujah Mountain’ after photos of it were used as the basis for the scenery in the epic James Cameron fantasy film Avatar. The municipal government believes that the renaming will increase tourism to the Wulingyuan Scenic Area.

The new slogan for the area is “Pandora is far but Zhangjiajie is near” and tourists are being offered tours of sights and scenery in the area that inspired the film. If only the tour guides were seven feet tall and bright blue and took you for a ride on the back of a dragon… I would book my flight to China today!
