As the new sponsor of the iconic British attraction, EDF Energy is planning to rename
the London Eye. As the large ferris wheel becomes The EDF Energy London Eye, it will have had its fourth name in 11 years.
EDF, which is based in France, will provide the electricity for the attraction, which is visited by 3.5 million people every year.
Several locals have posted their disapproval on Twitter over the new name change. However, others have made the point that no matter what the London landmark attraction is officially called, Londoners are free to carry on calling it whatever they like, which is often what happens in such situations.
