Libyan Rebels Rename Their Military Arm

Libyan Rebel forces have decided to rename themselves the National Liberation Army, the National Transitional Council has announced. The rebels have been fighting forces loyal to Colonel Gadaffi since 17th February in a conflict that has split the country with the rebels entrenched in the east. The rebels are mostly made up of young poorly equipped volunteers who are finding it difficult to make headway

against the better equipped soldiers fighting for Gadaffi. A statement from the NTC said “The NTC hopes that the temporary name will help better define the increasingly professional and disciplined military efforts to overcome the Gaddafi regime.”
