Rock and roll superstar Meat Loaf has been considering renaming himself since 1972, because he feels that people don’t take his stage name seriously. Meat Loaf is known for the Bat Out of Hell album trilogy, which has sold more than 40 million copies.
His real name is Marvin Lee Aday, and he chose the name because it made him stand out.
He regrets it now and believes it makes him sound like a circus performer. The name comes from the fact that as a child his father used to tease him about his weight
as a child by calling him “Meat”. Later, his school classmates added the “Loaf”. I suppose in that case there are worse stage names that he could have adopted!
