The fourth film in the Mission: Impossible series has been renamed, and is due to be released on December 16, 2011. The new title is ‘Ghost Protocol’. Tom Cruise, who stars as secret agent Ethan Hunt, thinks of each Mission: Impossible film as a separate entity, rather than sequels to the original. “I’ve never done sequels to films and I never thought of these films as sequels,” the actor said. “I always felt it should have a title,” he told reporters in Dubai, where action scenes for the movie are currently being filmed at the world’s tallest building, the 828m (2,716ft) Burj Khalifa.
Oscar-winning director Brad Bird, creator of the animated family action-comedy The Incredibles, is directing the film. This will be his first foray into directing a live action film.
