In Tulsa, Oklahoma, the annual Christmas parade has been renamed a “Holiday” Parade, sparking a great deal of controversy from several residents and prompting Senator Jim Inhofe to decide not to take part this year in protest. The name was changed to reflect the diversity of the area and make it
more accessible to those who were not Christian and may be celebrating other holiday traditions. Inhofe is very displeased about the name change to the parade in which he has rode his horse for the past 30 years, stating “I’m not going to ride in a Christmas parade that doesn’t recognize Christ.” However, the parade’s chairman has said in a recent interview that the quality or quantity
parade floats will not suffer without Inhofe and the parade will go on as planned.
