Rename the Earth!

An ecologist by the name of Bill McKibben has suggested that since humans have massively altered the planet, we should rename it. Although his suggestion might be forgiven for being thought of as a little too close to the the original, since he simply wants to call the third planet in this solar system ‘eaarth’. With two ‘a’ letters. You might be thinking that we already have enough names for our celestial pile of mud, or you

might have other suggestions for the renaming. Any thoughts?

  1. you miss 2options :

    list file pattern (*.exe;*.mp3), in the files listed in listboxs

    aka the user have the ability to rename only the specific extensions

    sometimes needed 'copy to clipboard' the filename (for search&replace procedure)

    • Thanks for the feedback – in order to keep the simplicity and ease of use, we currently just rename whatever is in the list, but perhaps an extension column would help to sort the files?

      You can copy and paste in the text boxes by right clicking – is that what you meant? Or did you mean to copy the names of all of the files in the list?

      And thanks for the feedback again.

  2. also , as you show on screenshot , will be nice if user have the ability to have your program on exporer context menu (aka right click), as I show your application already accept command arg.

    this is a piece on where u should write

    Dim a$

    a = "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf

    a = a & "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesDirectoryshellsRenamercommand]" & vbCrLf

    a = a & "@=" & Chr(34) & Replace(App.Path, "", "") & "" & App.EXEName & ".exe %1" & Chr(34)

    Open "c:
    eg.reg" For Output As 1

    Print #1, a

    Close #1

    ret = Shell("regedit.exe /s " & "c:
    eg.reg", 0)

    Kill "c:

    and a *BIG* advantage in my VB6 app is that I have textboxes (no listboxes). I 'store' the info on arrays

    • Hi Pipiscrew,

      RenameMaestro v5 can now handle up to 1 million files instead of 10,000 at a time. Also, it is an awful lot faster. Try it out for yourself and see!
