of John F. Kennedy still lives in Tampa. The City Council of Tampa, Florida voted unanimously in 1964 to rename Lafayette Street and portions of Grand Central Avenue and Memorial Highway in honor of the assassinated president John F. Kennedy. A life-sized statue of the slain leader was also created by an Italian artist, which stands overlooking South Hyde Park and the streets now known as Kennedy Boulevard. The statue was funded by
a group of Tampa activists and it was shipped all the way from Italy. The famous president visited Tampa only four days before he was killed in Dallas in November 1963.
