The Music Has a Really Driving Rhythm…

The Disraeli Bridge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada will undergoing a 200 million dollar rehabilitation in 2011 to make it wider and more pedestrian friendly. A group of Winnipeggers have set forth the suggestion that the makeover should include renaming the overpass after one of the cities most famous musical exports.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) is a rock-and-roll group consisting of Randy Bachman and Fred Turner, who had their heyday in the 1970s with several hit albums and singles including “Let It Ride”, “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” and “Taking Care of Business”. The hosts of “Greg and Marlo” on local radio station CJOB have suggested renaming the Disraeli Bridge, The Bachman-Turner Overpass. They have already collected over 350 signatures on the petition that they intend to present to Mayor Sam Katz. I hope it gets approved, and that BTO come to play a concert at the opening celebration of the new bridge!
