Virginia Town Named After Washington Nationals New Pitcher

Residents of Strausburg, Virginia are divided over whether or not to rename the town after Stephen Strausburg, the 21-year-old Californian pitcher and rookie for the Washington Nationals. Those in support of the idea want to give Stephen a hero’ welcome on the back of a firetruck and honor him with a parade and police escort. On the website the excited residents also suggest

that he throw out the first pitch to a new traveling little league team which would be called the “Stephen” Strasburgs.

The initial resolution had irked some Town Council members who weren’t aware of the proposal until it was reported by the news media. They were opposed, along with some residents, due to concerns that they would be living in “Stephen Strausburg, Virginia” permanently. However the name change proposal was only ever intended to be temporary.
