Welsh Village Name Far Too Sili

Residents of a small village in Wales have voted to rename it after becoming fed up with constantly being the target of jokes. The people of ‘Sili’ found themselves not being taken seriously, and that others found their village name a bit silly! Visitors would often laugh at the village name, and pose for pictures in front of ‘Sili’ signs. ‘Whoever comes to the village sees that they are coming to a place called Sili. Many people think that is just a bit silly.’ posted Sili resident Andrew Marsh on WalesOnline.co.uk In English, the

village name is Sully, but when the community started putting up bilingual signs with the Welsh translation ‘Sili’, the ridicule began. Residents have had enough of the sniggers and will be changing the name completely to ‘Abersili’.
