The World Wildlife Fund (WWF), an environmental organization, sued the World Wrestling Federation (also WWF) in 2000, demanding that they rename themselves. The courts agreed that The World Wildlife Fund had the rights to the initials since 1994, and the wrestling company was forced to change it’s name to World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. or WWE. For a short time, WWE used the slogan “Get The ‘F’
Out.” Since the court’s decision was retroactive to 1994, the company has also been ordered to censor all past references to WWF. Why don’t they just team up? Wrestling with Endangered Pandas, anyone? That would be quite the spectacle!
